Im 19. Jahrhundert war es durchaus üblich, Liegenschaften, die in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten geraten waren, im Rahmen einer Lotterie zu verlosen. Im Jahr 1843 wurde das Heilbad in Heiligenstadt mit dem davorliegenden Gasthaus “ausgespielt”.
