Color and form

Even though for most pocket watches only the watchmaker is known, they are certainly not the result of simply one craftsperson. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in particular, a great number of daring, fantastical artworks surfaced, which were often collaborative projects involving those who made the housing, goldsmiths, stone cutters, jewelers, enamelers, and watchmakers. Although the scene in Geneva was especially dynamic, other watchmaking centers and metropolises could keep pace, including Viennad.
