Viennese mountain railways
“Zuckerl-,” “Ruckerl-,” and “Knöpferlbahn,” are the colloquial names for the three cable cars built in the 1870s to assist those seeking rest and relaxation to reach the heights of the Vienna Woods. The Wien Museum preserves numerous objects that document these three long gone railways - the cable car on Leopoldsberg, the cog railway on Kahlenberg, and the cable car on Sophienalpe.
